1. Performance parameters

2. Insulation high temperature pressure test

 

(1) Sampling

For each tested insulated core, three adjacent samples were taken from each length of 250-500 mm, and the length of the sample should be 50-100 mm.

The insulated core of the unsheathed flat cord should not be separated.

(2) Sample preparation

All of the sheath on the sample, including the semiconductor electrical layer (if any), is mechanically removed. Depending on the type of cable, the specimen can be circular or fan shaped.

(3) Placement of the sample

The indentation device is composed of a rectangular blade having a blade edge thickness of (0.70 ±0.01 mm) as shown in Fig. 5, and the blade can pressurize the sample. Each sample was placed in the position shown in FIG. Unsheathed flat cords should be placed with flat edges. The small diameter specimen is fixed on the support plate in such a way that the specimen does not bend under the blade pressure. The scallops should be placed on a support plate with scalloped grooves as shown in Figure 5 above, applying pressure in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the sample, the blades being also perpendicular to the axis of the sample.

(4) Calculate the pressure

The pressure F on the specimen (circular and fan-shaped insulated core), in N, should be calculated as follows:

Where: K - the coefficient specified in the cable product standard. If not specified, it shall be:

Insulated core of cord and flexible cable K=0.6

Cable insulation core for fixed laying with D≤15mm K=0.6

D>15mm fixed laying cable insulated core and sector insulated core K=0.7

Both δ and D are in mm, one bit after the decimal point. It is measured on the sheet cut at the end of the sample according to the test method specified in GB/T 2951.1.

For the fan-shaped core, D is the average value of the fan-shaped "back" or the diameter of the arc portion, and is averaged after measuring three times on the cable core, in mm, to one decimal place (measurement should be in the core) In three different places).

The pressure acting on the unsheathed flat cord sample shall be twice the value calculated by the above formula, where D is the average of the short axis dimensions of the sample of 1-(1).

The calculated value of the pressure F can be rounded to a smaller value, but the value to be rounded should not exceed 3%.

(5) Sample heating

The test shall be carried out in an air oven, the test equipment and the sample shall not be vibrated in an oven; or placed in an air oven with an anti-vibration mount. Any equipment that may cause vibration of the specimen, such as a blower, is not allowed to come into direct contact with the oven. The air temperature in the oven should be maintained at the temperature specified in the relevant cable product standard. The time for the unheated pressurized specimen to be placed in the oven shall be as specified in the relevant cable product standard. If the cable product standard does not stipulate, the following shall be specified:

— —4h when the outer diameter of the sample is D≤15mm;

— —6h when the outer diameter of the sample is >15mm.

(6) Sample cooling

After the specified heating time is over (see sample heating), the sample is cooled in the oven under pressure and can be cooled by cold water jet pressing the steel ball. After the insulating sample was cooled to room temperature and no longer deformed, it was taken out from the test apparatus and then immersed in cold water for further cooling.

(7) Indentation measurement:

The depth of the indentation was measured immediately after the sample was cooled.

The conductor is withdrawn leaving a tubular insulating specimen.

A narrow strip of test piece is cut from the sample perpendicular to the indentation along the axis of the sample, as shown in Figure 6 below.

Place the narrow strip on the reading microscope or measuring projector, and adjust the crosshair to the bottom of the indentation and the outside of the test piece (as shown in Figure 2).

Small specimens with an outer diameter of about 6 mm or less shall be cut transversely between the indentation and the indentation by two test pieces (as shown in Figure 7 below). The depth of the indentation should be the difference between the measured values of the cross-sectional view 1 and the cross-sectional view 2 under the microscope (as shown in Figure 7 below).

All measurements are in mm, two decimal places.

(8) Evaluation of test results:

The intermediate value of the indentation measured on the three test pieces cut from each sample shall not be greater than 50% of the average value of the insulation thickness of the sample.

(Note: The value of 50% is related to the basic principle of the formula and is the same for all materials. The stringency of the test varies only with the change of the coefficient K, but the value of 50% does not change).
